Back Over Prevention Sensing System Camera |
Honda (America Honda Motor Co) is recalling certain 2020-2024 Ridgeline vehicles. The rearview camera (RVC) tailgate wire harness may fatigue and break, which can prevent the rearview camera image from displaying.
Risk: A rearview camera that does not display an image can reduce the driver's rear view, increasing the risk of a crash. Fix: Dealers will replace the RVC tailgate wire harness, free of charge. Owner letters were mailed November 8, 2024. Owners may contact Honda service at 1-888-234-2138. Honda's number for this recall is YI7. |

The Auto High Beams (AHB) fail to work correctly. When set to on, they will come on for maybe 3-4 seconds then turn off, and maybe repeat the next time. The bigger issue is they fail to turn off many times when approaching oncoming traffic. The feature is dangerous by not turning on when they should and not turning off when they should. This is a widespread problem reported by many. The Honda dealer said they adjusted the sensitivity of the AHB when in fact there is no such adjustment. In August 2026, my 2024 Honda Ridgeline Black Edition became undriveable while traveling in stop‑and‑go traffic on a four‑lane interstate. Without warning, the vehicle shut down completely and would not restart. After multiple attempts, it eventually restarted, but the shutdowns continued several more times during the same trip. The local Honda dealership retrieved diagnostic codes indicating software and transmission faults related to the auto stop/start system. They reinstalled the vehicle’s software. Initial Mechanical Issues – September 2026 In September, while slowing down at a traffic light, my Ridgeline unexpectedly shifted into Park on its own. I was forced to turn the vehicle completely off and restart it before I could continue driving. 2024 Honda Ridgeline, VIN [XXX], approximately 21,000 miles. The vehicle has repeatedly failed to restart in traffic after the Auto Idle Stop system automatically shut off the engine. Failures occurred XXX. During one occurrence, I was nearly rear-ended when the vehicle failed to restart as traffic began moving. The vehicle also intermittently cranks abnormally slowly when hot. The starter will crank, pause, then crank noticeably slower. On XXX at approximately 8:10 am I was traveling West bound on Highway [XXX] from [XXX] to [XXX]. when without warning, I heard a loud explosion above me and in looking at my rearview mirror I saw what looked like shards of glass flying out past the bed of my truck. There were no other cars around, the roadway was clean, no trees were overhanging the highway. I did not pull over on the highway. My auto stop engine device would not restart at an intersection and it left me stranded . The truck would not move, and I tried repeatedly to get the truck moving. This has happened several times this year since December 2025. Bravo Honda, Victoria, Texas told me they were not sure what caused the problem, but they said they charged the battery and felt as if this would resolve the issue. The next time I had an issue Bravo Honda replaced the battery and I was told that was the issue. Now this time Bravo Honda, Victoria , Texas has escalated the issue to Honda tech.
