Summaries are quoted verbatim from NHTSA's official campaign records. A single campaign often covers dozens of model years and several nameplates, so a summary may name vehicles other than the 2016 Pilot — that is normal. Every record listed here carries this vehicle's own make, model and model year in NHTSA's database. Whether a recall is still open on a particular car can only be determined by VIN.

A complaint is an unverified owner report. It is a signal about where to look, not proof of a defect.

I am writing to report a severe internal engine defect on my 2016 Honda Pilot that poses a sudden stalling and safety hazard, identical to the failures covered under NHTSA Recall Campaign Number 23V-751. My vehicle is currently experiencing a distinct metallic rattling/knocking noise coming from the lower engine block. This noise is highly noticeable under acceleration and high-load conditions right before the transmission shifts gears at higher RPMs. Upon performing an inspection of the engine oil system, the drained engine oil revealed a heavy concentration of microscopic metallic "glitter"

American Honda Motor Co. Inc. and dealership (Della Honda - Plattsburgh, NY) refused to perform the required alignment as part of recall campaign 26V365 without out-of-pocket payment. As part of the recall, they removed and replaced lower trailing arms and installed subframe bracing. The service advisor said alignment was part of the recall. However, after the work was complete and I drove away from the dealership, the steering wheel was noticeably pulling to the left. I brought it back immediately and they said they had not performed the alignment as it was not part of the covered recall. The

Honda recognized a factory paint adhesion defect and issued a warranty extension 19-057 for a defined VIN population. When I inquired a Honda dealer in 2022, the response was that my vehicle was outside that population. The fact that my car met the year, model, trim, and color criteria, and exhibited exactly the same defect in the same locations. Further, I have learned that other 2016 Pilots outside the VIN population had reported the same failure. My vehicle exhibits the exact defect that Honda recognized in 19-057, but Honda's VIN eligibility population excluded my vehicle. I am asking NHT

Following all repair/recall/warranty work recommended by Honda, the Auto Stop/Start feature is again failing. This results in the vehicle not restarting after the auto idle engine stop is engaged while in traffic, stop lights, stop signs etc. This is a random occurrence, but results in a significant safety hazard as a stopped vehicle in a lane of travel. This is a recurring issue, no specific date of incident.
