Mid/Rear Assembly
Honda (American Honda Motor Co.) is recalling certain 2014-2016 Honda Odyssey vehicles. The second row outboard seats have a lever to fold the seatback and slide the seat forward to access the third row seats. Due to a manufacturing error, if the walk-in release lever is used to fold a fully reclined left outboard seatback forward, the seatback may stay in the unlocked position (free-folding) or unexpectedly…

Risk: An unlocked second row left outboard seatback increases the risk of injury to the seat occupant during a crash.
Fix: Honda will notify owners, and dealers will confirm proper operation of the second row left outboard seatback, and install a support bracket to the seat recliner. If the seatback cannot lock, dealers will replace the seatback frame assembly. These repairs will be performed free of charge. The…

Mid/Rear Assembly
Honda (American Honda Motor Co.) is recalling certain 2011-2017 Honda Odyssey vehicles. The second row outboard seats can slide sideways to one of two positions. If a seat is placed between either of the two positions when attaching the seat to the vehicle floor, the seat will not latch properly to the seat striker, allowing the seat to tip forward unexpectedly during braking.

Risk: If the seat tips forward during braking, it can increase the risk of injury.
Fix: Honda will notify owners, and dealers will install a bracket to the second row outboard floor strikers, free of charge. The recall began April 2, 2018. Owners may contact American Honda Customer Support & Campaign Center at 1-888-234-2138. Honda's number for this recall is S0G.

Air Bags
Side/Window
Honda is recalling certain model year 2014 Odyssey vehicles manufactured October 2, 2013, through December 16, 2013. The shorting terminal, an electrical connector used to prevent air bag deployment before being installed into a vehicle, may have been damaged during assembly of the passenger-side side curtain air bag.

Risk: If the shorting terminal is damaged, the passenger-side side curtain air bag may fail to deploy thereby increasing the risk of occupant injury in a crash.
Fix: Honda will notify owners, and dealers will replace the damaged shorting pin with a new shorting coupler, free of charge. The recall began on May 16, 2014. Owners may contact Honda at 1-800-999-1009. Honda's number for this recall is JE2.

Summaries are quoted verbatim from NHTSA's official campaign records. A single campaign often covers dozens of model years and several nameplates, so a summary may name vehicles other than the 2014 Odyssey — that is normal. Every record listed here carries this vehicle's own make, model and model year in NHTSA's database. Whether a recall is still open on a particular car can only be determined by VIN.

A complaint is an unverified owner report. It is a signal about where to look, not proof of a defect.

Power Train (47 complaints)

This is now the THIRD time my transmission has died (while driving). My vehicle only has 85,000 miles, There is clearly a recall that needs to happen. Honda needs to also act honorable and repair my vehicle free of charge as this transmission they put in only a few years ago.

About mid-2025, Honda announced a warranty extension campaign (not a formal NHTSA recall) for: * 2013–2017 Honda Odyssey (and some Pilots) * Related to VCM (Variable Cylinder Management) What the problem was: * Piston rings wear prematurely * Oil gets past the rings → fouls spark plugs * Leads to: * Misfires (P0301–P0304) * Oil consumption * Rough running Mechanism: * Cylinder deactivation (VCM) → uneven temps → carbon buildup + ring sticking * Sometimes described loosely as a “piston/gasket issue,” even though it’s really piston rings + oil control What Honda did: * Exten

All of this has been diagnosed and confirmed by Richfield-Bloomington Honda. It is a catostrophic failure of the motor. Cylinder 6 is misfiring. They are recommending a full motor replacement. Last year, I had the piston ring issue on this car and the dealership had to rebuild the motor. The van has about 125,000 miles on it and is good service, including the repaired motor. We are the single owners of the vehicle. After this happened, Honda Corporation was notified, a case was open by both the Richfield Honda Dealership where we purchased our vehicle and by our family. Both were den

Service Brakes (35 complaints)

TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2014 HONDA ODYSSEY. WHILE DRIVING 35 MPH, THE STEERING WHEEL SHOOK. WHEN THE BRAKE PEDAL WAS APPLIED, THE VEHICLE WAS SLOW TO RESPOND. THERE WERE NO WARNING INDICATORS ILLUMINATED. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO CONCORD HONDA (1461 CONCORD AVE, CONCORD, CA 94520, (855) 679-6829) WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE ROTORS NEEDED TO BE RESURFACED AND UPGRADED FOR BETTER PERFORMANCE. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED, BUT THE FAILURE RECURRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS CONTACTED AND DID NOT ASSIST. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 28,000. THE VIN WAS NOT AVAILABLE.

AT 26608 MILES FRONT ROTORS HAD TO BE RESURFACED. HONDA DEALER DID THIS AT 'NO CHARGE FOR FIRST TIME ONLY.' ROTORS VIBRATED AGAIN AT 50000 MILES AND WERE REPLACED INDEPENDENTLY WITH NON HONDA PARTS. NOW AGAIN AT 70000 MILES THE VIBRATION WHEN BRAKING IS WORSE THAN EVER BEFORE. BRAKE PADS WERE REPLACED AS WELL WITH NO IMPROVEMENT. WITH SO MANY OWNERS HAVING THIS ISSUE HONDA NEEDS TO ADDRESS IT.

Structure (27 complaints)

The paint is literally falling off my entire van, i believe in the white pearl color, it looks ridiculous. The BREAK warning also comes on randomly even with no one infront of me.

Rear sliding doors will not shut automatic or otherwise!!!!! Having to pull the door shut to get it to shut could result in someone arms or fingers being crushed! The cord could snap and hurt someone! Kids riding in backseat could fall out of car while the door won’t shut! The door could open while driving down the road! These doors have costs us hundreds in trying to fix them and they just keep breaking!
