Summaries are quoted verbatim from NHTSA's official campaign records. A single campaign often covers dozens of model years and several nameplates, so a summary may name vehicles other than the 2012 Insight — that is normal. Every record listed here carries this vehicle's own make, model and model year in NHTSA's database. Whether a recall is still open on a particular car can only be determined by VIN.
59 owner complaints on file with NHTSA for the 2012 Insight, grouped by the component owners reported. Counts reflect how many owners complained, not how often the fault actually occurs.

I PURCHASED MY CAR IN JULY 2015 FROM A USED CAR DEALERSHIP. IT HAD APPROXIMATELY 64K MILES ON IT. A MONTH LATER MY CHECK EMISSIONS LIGHT CAME ON WHILE DRIVING IN A RESIDENTIAL AREA. THE CAR HAD RECEIVED A COMPLETE OIL CHANGE THE DAY I PURCHASED IT BUT I TOOK IT TO A LOCAL SERVICE SHOP WHERE THEY INFORMED ME MY CAR WAS LOW ON OIL. A MONTH LATER THE CHECK EMISSIONS LIGHT CAME ON AGAIN. IT WAS A QUART LOW. I ADDED A QUART (NOT CHEAP FOR HYBRIDS AS HONDA RECOMMENDS API PREMIUM GRADE 0W-20 DETERGENT OIL ONLY).
