| Campaign | Component | What the recall says |
|---|---|---|
| 98V300000 1998-12-08 |
Electrical System Ignition Module |
VEHICLE DESCRIPTION: ELECTRIC VEHICLES. THE PROGRAM LOGIC FOR THE MOTOR ELECTRONIC CONTROL UNIT (ECU) CAN MISTAKENLY DETECT A FAILURE OF AN ELECTRICAL CURRENT SENSOR AT SPEEDS ABOVE 50 MPH. IF THIS OCCURS, THE ECU QUICKLY REDUCES VEHICLE SPEED IN ORDER TO MAINTAIN PROPER FEEDBACK CONTROL.
Risk: THIS CAN RESULT IN A SUDDEN LOSS OF POWER AND UNEXPECTED DECELERATION THAT COULD CAUSE A REAR-END COLLISION. Fix: DEALERS WILL UPGRADE THE ECU . |
Summaries are quoted verbatim from NHTSA's official campaign records. A single campaign often covers dozens of model years and several nameplates, so a summary may name vehicles other than the 1999 EV Plus — that is normal. Every record listed here carries this vehicle's own make, model and model year in NHTSA's database. Whether a recall is still open on a particular car can only be determined by VIN.
NHTSA has no complaint filings for this model year. That usually means the population on the road in the U.S. is very small rather than that the car is trouble-free.
A recall only matters if it is open on your car. The lists above are for the model year as a whole; the free official lookup below tells you what applies to your specific 17-character VIN.
