Summaries are quoted verbatim from NHTSA's official campaign records. A single campaign often covers dozens of model years and several nameplates, so a summary may name vehicles other than the 2014 CR-V — that is normal. Every record listed here carries this vehicle's own make, model and model year in NHTSA's database. Whether a recall is still open on a particular car can only be determined by VIN.

A complaint is an unverified owner report. It is a signal about where to look, not proof of a defect.

This make and model Honda with a 2.4L engine have several known defects which brings potential harm and high operational and repair costs to its owners. Honda is well aware of the engine problems but refuses to issue recalls to correct the problem. Two of the major problems are: 1. due to a design error, the engine burns excessive amounts of oil, and 2. Honda installed a defective VTC Actuator in this engine. Either problem can cause the engine to suddenly sieze/fail which could lead to serious injury or loss of life. I purchased a used 2014 Honda CR-V from a Honda dealer in 2022 with abou

Unknown Or Other (69 complaints)

VTC Actuator Issue with part causing timing chain to stretch and throw codes. I had timing chain replaced $2300, but it was still making a noise at start up. Apparently it is the VTC Actuator/phaser, the part is bad. I can replace the part but it will continue to have issues because the Honda VTC Actuator part is defective. I am told this will cause the timing chain to continue to have issues. When it did, all of the dummy lights went on in my car, the cruise control would not work. I am told $350 to replace and to only get genuine Honda parts. If every Honda VTC Actuator for a 2014 Honda C

This morning, I went to get into my 2014 Honda CR-V. As I shut the driver’s side door, the entire rear hatchback window suddenly shattered. There was no impact, accident, or attempted theft. The vehicle was parked and stationary at the time. I’m unsure why this happened, but it appears to have occurred spontaneously and without any external force.

Electrical System (38 complaints)

The tailgate door doesn’t open normally sometime I have to push the button more than 10 times then it open but most of the time it doesn’t open.I use this car as a spare or for emergency only so I just wait for Honda to recall, hopefully I don’t want to spend a lot of money to fix because the warranty has expired (41 months but only 25000 miles)but now I use this car every day

Power Train (33 complaints)

There is a known issue with 2014 Honda CRV torque converters. My car has always had a funky shift which Honda told me it was just the new CVT transmission. Then back in August my mother drive my car and said that was not correct. I took it to Honda and they said it was the torque converter. It is causing my vehicle to become undrivable with out feeling safe. It judders, shakes and doesn't shift properly. I contacted Honda and they acknowledge that it is a known issue with their CVT transmission. They currently have 1200 orders for torque converters on back order that shows you how much of an i
